ESKA European Championship 2025 in Portimão – the Next International Stage
The WSKA World Championship in Cádiz had barely ended when Rebels Karateclub Wien moved straight on to the next big challenge: the ESKA European Championship 2025 in Portimão, Portugal. From Spain to Portugal, from one major event to the next – this double load at the highest international level impressively demonstrates the ambition and aspirations of our young club.
The Journey to Portugal
Lisbon in late autumn, airport halls decorated for Christmas and the anticipation of another international tournament – the trip to Portimão was the prelude to an intense competition weekend for the Rebels team. After the exhausting days in Cádiz, it was now time to switch body and mind back into competition mode.
Training and Kumite in the ESKA Arena
In the large competition hall of Portimão, karateka from all over Europe met. On the familiar red and blue mats, our athletes prepared for their categories with focused sparring. Warming up and exchanging with international training partners right before the fights is crucial for dialing in distance, timing and mental sharpness.
For a club like Rebels Karateclub, competing at a European Championship is more than a single tournament. It is confirmation that the path we have chosen is right: consistent training at the highest level, led by a coaching team that is at home on the mat itself.
International Experience as a Foundation
Every fight against Europe’s best, every minute on the international tatami contributes to the development of our athletes. The experiences from Portimão – directly following the World Championship – make the team stronger and lay the groundwork for the upcoming season.
