Tournament Victory in Budweis: 1st Place for Edvin Kuric

Sparring Camp Budweis: Three Days of Karate, Fighting Spirit and a Golden Finish

From October 3 to 5, 2025, the Rebels Karateclub traveled to Budweis (Ceske Budejovice) in the Czech Republic to participate in the renowned Sparring Camp. What began as an intense training weekend ended with a triumphant tournament victory: Edvin Kuric secured first place in the Kumite Men Senior Open event, crowning an already outstanding competition year in 2025.

The Sparring Camp Budweis has established itself as a staple of the Central European karate scene. The combination of high-intensity training and a concluding tournament makes the format particularly attractive for ambitious athletes who want to test themselves under competition conditions while also picking up valuable impulses for their technical development.

Two Days of Training with International Partners

The first two days of the camp were all about training. Karateka from various countries trained together on the mat, challenging each other in technique, conditioning and mental strength. The exchange with international sparring partners is invaluable: each fighter brings their own style, their own tactics and their individual strengths. Adapting to these, recognizing weaknesses and finding the right answer in split seconds – that is the essence of kumite.

For Edvin Kuric, these two training days were more than mere preparation. He used every session to work specifically on his distance control, timing and counter techniques. The variety of training partners allowed him to work through different combat scenarios and expand his tactical repertoire. This systematic approach, which he cultivates in regular training at the Rebels Karateclub, paid off fully on competition day.

1st Place in Kumite Men Senior Open: The Tournament Victory

On Sunday, October 5, the Sparring Camp concluded with a karate tournament. In the Kumite Men Senior Open category, Edvin Kuric took on the competition and delivered an impressive performance. Fight by fight, he consistently applied the training impulses of the previous days and brought them precisely to the tatami.

With a combination of explosive speed, precise technique and tactical cunning, he dominated his opponents and deservedly secured 1st place. The tournament victory was no coincidence but the result of consistent preparation, hard work and a clear competition plan. The golden moment on the podium impressively confirmed the quality of the training concept and the performance level that Edvin Kuric has consistently demonstrated throughout the 2025 season.

Night Run Budweis: A Bonus Medal

As if the tournament victory on Sunday wasn’t enough, Edvin Kuric had already demonstrated his versatile fitness on Saturday evening. He took part in the Night Run in Budweis, a popular running event through the picturesque old town, and secured another medal there. This success underscores that in modern karate, not only technique and tactics matter, but a solid athletic foundation is also indispensable. The endurance demanded by the Night Run is the same energy that makes the difference between victory and defeat on the tatami.

Another Milestone in a Strong Season

The weekend in Budweis seamlessly joins an impressive series of successes that Edvin Kuric and the Rebels Karateclub have celebrated in the 2025 season. Every tournament, every sparring camp and every training session builds on the last, showing that continuous work and the courage to compete internationally bear fruit.
