Vienna State Championship 2026 – a Strong Home Performance for Rebels
On 14 May 2026, the Vienna Karate State Championship took place in Vienna. For Rebels Karateclub Wien, this was the most important date in the regional competition calendar – and our athletes did not miss the opportunity.
Edvin Kuric – Twice First Place
Edvin Kuric crowned the day with a double Vienna state title: two times 1st place on his record. Once again he underlined his exceptional standing in Vienna Kumite – and set a clear marker for the upcoming national competitions of the season.
Anyone who has watched Edvin on the mat over the past years knows: his karate combines excellent distance control, lightning-fast counterattacks and the mental strength to make the right decisions even in close fights. Exactly this repertoire was on full display in Vienna.
Lorenz Hellmer – 1st Place Kumite Team and 2nd Place Individual
Lorenz Hellmer also delivered and brought two medals home: 1st place in Kumite Team and 2nd place in Kumite individual. With this Lorenz confirms his strong form from the 2025 season, in which he made his mark internationally at the WSKA World Championship in Cádiz and nationally as Austrian vice-champion. His karate has visibly developed over the past months – the results in Vienna show that he has firmly established himself at national level.
What This Vienna State Championship 2026 Means for the Club
A state championship in your home federal state holds a special meaning for any club. This is where you see where you stand – not in international comparison, but in direct competition with your own regional rivals. Several first places in a single tournament send a strong signal: to club members, to training partners and to anyone considering joining Rebels Karateclub.
That our athletes dominate in Vienna is no coincidence – it is the result of consistent training work. In regular Kumite training at Rebels, exactly those skills are sharpened that make the difference on competition days like the Vienna State Championship: technique, timing, tactics and mental strength.
Outlook: a Strong 2026 Season Is Picking Up Speed
The results from Vienna fit into a strong 2026 season that already started successfully in May with the Styrian Open 2026 in Graz. Anyone who wants to experience the Rebels spirit themselves or become part of this success story can sign up for a trial training session at any time.
